Sore
Sore
In Sore , Brutal Kortex offers us a surprising and emotional reinterpretation of Yoshi, the famous dinosaur from the Mario universe. Far from his usual cheerful and innocent appearance, Yoshi is here transformed into a vulnerable, almost unrecognizable figure. His skin, depicted in pastel shades of blue and pink, seems to melt, literally dripping with stylized tears, an effect that gives a new emotional dimension to the character. The simple shapes and thick contours emphasize this feeling of fragility, while the soft colors contrast with the pain they suggest.
This work invites the viewer to reconsider pop culture icons in a different light, to see them not as invincible figures, but as beings capable of feeling deep and complex emotions. Sore explores the duality between the apparent sweetness of childhood and hidden wounds, suggesting a melancholic nostalgia. Brutal Kortex pushes us to question the vulnerability hidden behind the characters of our childhood, creating a space where sadness mixes with tenderness in a delicate balance.
